Man Swam For His Life After Car Plunged Into Icy Susquehanna River During Winter Storm: Police

A man swam to safety after his vehicle went into the icy, cold Susquehanna River on Wednesday afternoon, officials say.

The man was alone in his vehicle when it went into the river “off of City Island” just before 2 p.m. on Mar. 8, Harrisburg police Cpl. Matthew Novchich told Daily Voice.

The unidentified man is receiving medical care after his exposure to the frigid waters, Novchich said.

The exact location on City Island and the details on how the man’s car ended up in the river have yet to be released, as the investigation is ongoing, according to Novchich.
